The 82nd General Assembly of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) was held at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Ankara, bringing together delegates from chambers of commerce and commodity exchanges from across the country.
The two-day program attracted strong participation from delegates and guests. The first day featured delegate registration and the Geographical Indications Promotion Event, while the second day was dedicated to the Financial General Assembly.
Representing the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce (NTO) were Chairman of the Board Nuri Arslan together with Chamber delegates Nurettin Özkat and Hüseyin Pişken.
The Nazilli Chamber of Commerce stand, featuring the Chamber’s specially designed Mobile Product Promotion Vehicle, became one of the most visited stands throughout the event and attracted significant interest with its presentation of regional culinary specialties.
The stand welcomed numerous distinguished visitors, including TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Director General of Domestic Trade Adem Başar, Deputy Director General Hüseyin Altındal, Department Heads Serkan Yüksel, Çağatay Yasin Karaboğa, Recep Yılmaz, and Ahmet Akçınar, officials from the Ministry of Trade, M. Arif Parmaksız, Chairman of Customs and Tourism Enterprises Inc. (GTİ), TOBB Secretary General Mustafa Saraçöz, hundreds of TOBB officials, and presidents of chambers and commodity exchanges from across Türkiye.
Visitors were offered some of the region’s most distinctive traditional products, including Nazilli Pide, Bozdoğan Tahinli Pide, and Olukbaşı Roast Kid (Goat) Kebab, all freshly prepared and served from the Chamber’s mobile promotion vehicle.
The geographically indicated Nazilli Gülü—the region’s famous round minced-meat pide—and Bozdoğan Tahinli Pide were prepared on-site by master bakers from Nazilli using traditional methods and received widespread praise from visitors.
Meanwhile, the Olukbaşı Roast Kid Kebab became the event’s most popular attraction. Prepared over a traditional wood-fired rotating spit installed on the promotion vehicle, the freshly roasted kebab drew long queues of visitors eager to experience this authentic regional specialty.
Many guests commented that it was the first time such a traditional cooking method had been demonstrated during a TOBB promotional event and praised both the preparation technique and the unique flavor of the dish.
In addition to these specialties, several geographically indicated regional products—including Nazilli Kar Helvası, Bozdoğan Walnut Sausage, and Sultanhisar Strawberries—were also presented to visitors.
Following his visit to the NTO stand and mobile promotion vehicle, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated:
“The Nazilli Chamber of Commerce has distinguished itself through its promotion stand, its innovative mobile promotion vehicle, and the regional products it presented. The objective of this event is to raise awareness of geographically indicated products and introduce them to a wider audience. NTO has fulfilled this mission exceptionally well. It is an exemplary promotional organization. I congratulate Chairman Nuri Arslan, the Chamber delegates, and everyone who contributed to this successful initiative.”
Commenting on the General Assembly, NTO Chairman Nuri Arslan said:
“I wish the 82nd TOBB General Assembly every success and extend my congratulations to the members of the TOBB Board of Directors, wishing them continued success in their duties.
Our foremost responsibility is to ensure that the voices of our members are heard on every platform, and I believe we continue to fulfill that responsibility successfully.
As the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to preserving our region’s traditional products, passing them on to future generations, and transforming them into high-value commercial assets through Geographical Indication registration.
At the exhibition area allocated to us within the TOBB Twin Towers complex, we introduced our regional products and provided visitors with detailed information about them.
As it did last year, our Mobile Geographical Indications Promotion Vehicle once again became one of the focal points of the event. Equipped with a traditional stone oven for pide, a wood-fired roasting system for kid kebab, and other specialized facilities, the vehicle attracted remarkable attention from visitors.
The vehicle was specially designed and manufactured exclusively for product promotion with the approval of the Ministry of Trade. To the best of our knowledge, there is no comparable example anywhere in Türkiye.
Representatives of chambers from all 81 provinces and thousands of visitors showed tremendous interest in our stand. We are delighted by the positive feedback we received and believe we successfully promoted both our region and its unique cultural heritage. The strong interest shown encourages us to continue expanding our promotional activities in the future.”
The 82nd TOBB General Assembly was held over two days with the participation of approximately 6,000 delegates, chamber and commodity exchange representatives, guests, leading industrialists, merchants, and business leaders from across Türkiye, making it one of the country’s most significant annual gatherings of the business community.
